after all the mess
If the Admiral doesn't giftwrap it, HE will when he ventures in to clean. All the same- ]There's something for you in your room.
Re: after all the mess
You know you didn't have to, John...
[But of course he's absolutely heading to his room to actually see it for himself.]
Re: after all the mess
John is not in the room with him. He's in his own room. Arthur should be able to feel that if he wants to come over.
Re: after all the mess
What he's not expecting is the familiar gift-wrapped length sitting on his bed, or that when he picks it up to examine it, the weight is instantly familiar, to the point of comforting. So of course he opens it.
...and when he comes to John's room, maybe ten minutes later, his eyes are still red and puffy as he opens the door, holding his cane-sword with a white-knuckled grip like if he puts it down it'll disappear again.
Re: after all the mess
"Good?"
Re: after all the mess
Wonderful.
He doesn't trust his voice, but the raw emotions can't be hidden through his mental voice; a stinging ache, but run through with such affection that it passes bitter-sweet and straight into fondly melancholy. And so, so much gratitude for John for it all.
Thank you, John.
Re: after all the mess
You're welcome, Arthur.
He's so glad. Something good. He gave him something good.
